Usain Bolt, an icon for track and field athletics, who has established himself as the greatest sprinter of all-time. His dominance in and achievements in sprint competition make him legend.
Usain was born to Jennifer and Wellesley Bolt on 21st August 1986
Sherwood content a small town in Jamaica. He was one of the three children born to the couple.
His parents managed to make ends meeting by managing a shop where most grocery was sold.
The young boy was enrolled at an institution named ‘Waldensia Primary’ for his primary education. In the annual national primary-schools he showed his sprinting potential and in an age of 12, Bolt had become the school's fastest runner over the 100m distance.
Bolt later moved to the ‘William Knibb Memorial High School’, where he started playing sports such as Cricket. While mentoring Bolt's coach realizes he would be a better athlete than a cricketer.
The young bolt soon participated in the 200 meters racing event in school, which he finished in a matter of just 22.04 seconds.
Career:
Former
Olympian sprinter Pablo McNeil and Dwayne Jarrett coached Bolt pushed him to
improve his abilities.
Performing
for Jamaica in his first Caribbean regional event, Bolt clocked a personal best
of 48.28 s in the 400min the 2001 CARIFTA Games, winning a silver
medal. The 200 m also yielded a silver, as Bolt finished in 21.81 sec.
The
first major international sporting event which Bolt had participated
In
2001 at the Hungarian city of Debrecen, ‘IAAF World Youth Championship' was the
first major international sporting event which Bolt had participated. Although
he failed to emerge victorious in the 200m qualifier event, Bolt managed to
finish the event in 21.73 seconds, which was his personal best at that time.
Kingston,
Jamaica, ‘2002 World Junior Championships’ bolt participated and managed to win
the title at 200m event, by completing the race in just 20.61 seconds.
2004
was one of the eventful years of Usain’s career, when he participated in three
events, namely the ‘2004 CARIFTA Games’, ‘2004 World Junior Championships’ and
the famous ‘2004 Athens Olympics’.
Although he was praised for his remarkable performance in the CARIFTA games event, he failed to do well in the 200m Olympic qualifier event, due to an injury he had suffered.
In 2005, Glen Mills become Bolt's new coach. Under Glen's mentorship bolt become more professional than he was earlier, therefore, Bolt sprinter registered a win in a 200m event, where he finished the contest in just 19.99 seconds.
In the same year, bolt participated in the ‘2005 World Championships’ event, where he had succeed much better than the way he did in running events held in 2004.
In 2007 Osaka, Japan, in the ‘2007 World Championship’. Although Bolt managed to cover a distance of 200m in 19.96 seconds, his performance was overshadowed by his contemporary, Tyson Gay’s exceptional 19.76-second feat.
many thought and criticized for lack of sufficient experienced but bolt shut their mouth by qualifying 100m final event at Beijing summer Olympics, on 2008. Bolt achieved path-breaking success when he won the 100m final, by completing the race in a mere 9.69 seconds and eventually became a world-renowned icon. He also won the 200m final with a new Olympic record of 19.30 seconds. He won his third gold medal at 2008 Olympics in 4x100m relay.
At the 2009 Berlin World Championships, he created world records in both the 100m and 200m events. He won the 100m race with a timing of 9.58 seconds and 200m race with a timing of 19.19 seconds. He also won a gold medal in 4x100m relay race but the Jamaican team failed to better their own world record.
At the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, Bolt was eliminated from the 100m finals due to a false start. He came back strongly to win the gold medal in 200m with a timing of 19.40 seconds. He then partnered with his Jamaican team mates to set a world record time of 37.04 seconds in 4x100m relay in the‘2012 Summer Olympics’ and created history to become the first man to successfully defend both the 100 m and 200 m Olympic sprint titles. He also won the 4x100m relay race and achieved the 'Double Triple', raising his overall Olympics medal tally to 6 gold medals. He won the 100m race in 9.63 seconds and 200m race in 19.32 seconds.
At the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, he once again emerged victorious in 100m and 200m, with a timing of 9.77 seconds and 19.66 seconds, respectively. He also won the gold medal in the 4×100 meters relay final and became the most successful athlete in the 30-year history of the world championships.
At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, he was coming back from a hamstring injury and thus didn't participate in 100m and 200m race. He participated in the 4x100m relay and helped his team win a gold.
At the 2015 Beijing World Championships, he once again won the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay race with the timings of 9.79 seconds, 19.55 seconds and 37.36 seconds, respectively. He also joined Carl Lewis and Maurice Greene on a record three 100 m world titles and recorded his fourth consecutive win over 200 m at the World Championships.
At the 2016 Rio Olympics, he once again won the gold medals in all the three events and took his overall Olympics medal tally to 9 gold medals. He won 100m in 9.81 seconds, 200m in 19.78 seconds and 4x100m relay in 37.27 seconds.

The national launch of the HeForShe Campaign in Jamaica is a collaborative event with partners, the United States Embassy in Jamaica, Respect Jamaica, UN Women Multi-Country Office in the Caribbean, Digicel Jamaica, the High Commission of Canada, the British High Commission and the European Union Delegation to Jamaica.
He becomes the ambassador of UNICEF. Doing many charities. He always inspires me for not quitting. Be in the race u may lose. But one day the title will be yours. he is an inspiration to all of those who believe in dreams and want them to turn reality. there is a spark in his personality.
